East Cornwall League Div 1

Bude won their first league game at home since September with an emphatic victory over Nanpean which saw striker Dan Balsdon scoring all the goals for Bude.  They took the lead after 10 mins when Baldson was put through on goal with a through ball from defender Dan Starkey and Balsdon neatly tucked it away.  Nanpean though pulled a goal back, when play broke down and the ball was knocked out to the right, the ball was played in to Gary Dyer who turner defender Gary Hodgson and smashed the ball down the middle of the goal.  Bude took the lead just before half time, Hodgson played a long ball over the defence to Steve Smeeth who squared the ball to Balsdon who had a simple tap in from yards out.  Bude soon scored again at the start of the second half, Tommy Statton made the goal with some great work and again Balsdon was set up again to grab his third, then ran over to the dug out and kissed supporter Chris Hudson in celebration.  He wasn't finished though as he scored his fourth on the hour, Statton again setting him up on the edge of the box and a first time strike nestled in to the far corner. Minutes later his fifth came, he received the ball on the left , ran in on goal and drilled it inside the near post.  Hopefully now they wont have to wait another six months for a home league win.
