League Match
Bude 5
Lifton 1
Bude controlled the game from the
start but some great football on a rock hard pitch. They opened the
scoring after 10 minutes when a deep free kick from Wayne Cornish, bounced
over the defence which Dan Balsdon reacted well to and ran through to meet
the ball with his head and knock past the frozen keeper. Bude soon
increased the lead with Billy Hopcroft beating the keeper and tucking the
ball away away. The best goal of the game saw superb passing on the left
which finished with the ball being chipped to Tommy Statton on the edge of
the box who laid up with his right and volleyed in the bottom corner with
his left. Billy Hopcroft grabbed his second after just 30 minutes
when put through he again took the keeper and slotted the ball home.
The game was effectively over and Bude took the foot right off the gas
allowing Lifton to get back in to the half and they deservedly pulled one
back scoring from the edge of the box with a slight deflection off a Bude
defender. The second half started fairly even but it was Bude who
created all the best chances, Billy Hopcroft hitting the cross bar from 8
yards with a gaping goal in front of him and then putting another great
chance wide of the left post. The game was finally wrapped up midway
through the half when Norman Foster was put in on goal and with the
outside of the boot struck through the keepers legs to make it five for
Bude.
