Bude 2
Holsworthy 4
Holsworthy had the best of the
opening exchanges, in this fourth derby between these two teams this
season and scored within a few minutes. A Dean Chidley free kick
was struck on to the bar, came down, hit keeper Aaron Braund and
bounced in to the goal. A similar free kick soon after by Chidley
was then well tipped over the bar by Braund. After 15 mins,
Holsworthy doubled their lead when a cross from the right in to the
box was flicked past the back post by defender Dan Starkey,
Holsworthys’ Steve Hackett collected the ball and smashed it in past
the near post. Bude pulled themselves back in to the game though
when Adam Cornish was put through on goal, and shot past oncoming
keeper Gary Burnard, Holsworthys’ Alex Parker scampered back but
couldn’t clear and he collided with the post as the ball found it’s
way in to the net. Bude were on top for a period and Dan Balsdon
shortly after put a clear header over the bar from 6 yards from a
corner.
Holsworthy extended their lead on the hour when a ball was played in
to Lee James on the corner of the Bude box; he turned and hooked the
ball in to the far corner of the goal. Holsworthy then had the game
wrapped up minutes later when a ball played through, beat the
offside trap and Paul Huddlestone went on to score. Bude reduced
the arrears in the 80th minute when Balsdon struck a
sweet half volley in to the back of the net from just outside the
box, but it was too late to get Bude back in the game |
