League Match
Bude 2 V
Callington 2
Bude gained their first point of the season but with
a great chance to get all three points produced a poor display
against an inexperienced but determined Callington side. Bude took the
lead midway through the half when winger Stevie Box was brought down in
the box, Dan Balsdon slotted the resulting penalty kick in to the corner.
Balsdon soon grabbed his second when his perseverance robbed the defender
and keeper of the ball with a sliding shot. Bude should have killed
the game off with various chances, including Stevie Box striking the post
from the edge of the box. Callington pulled a goal back early in the
second half, a ball pumped forward saw defender Gary Hodgson head forward
straight in to striker Shane Richards chest who ran on to slot past keeper
Warburton. Callington started a spell of domination and soon
equalised, Darren Benfield picked the ball up unmarked in the middle of
the field, turned, looked up and smashed a 35 yard strike straight in to
the top right hand corner, Bude rode out further pressure and
towards the end of the game again started creating further chances against
the visiting team but failed to make anything count.
