League Match
Bude
2 Biscovey 1
Bude got off to winning ways
in their opening league game of the season and although the score line was
close, Bude deservedly took all 3 points. In the first half the pace of
wingers Stevie Box and new signing Robbie Pearce continually caused the
visitors problems down the flanks and a new hard working strike
partnership of Tommy Statton and Jason Veale always put the back line line
under plenty of pressure. Bude took the lead midway through the half when
a free kick from the right was delivered in to the box by defender Josh
Allen and found the run of another new signing Simon Veale who got his
right knee on the ball and it flew in to the top right corner. Bude
controlled much of the game and increased their lead early in the second
half, some neat football ended with a Bude strike being parried in to the
path of the ever alert Pearce who calmly slotted home from close range.
After 70 minutes Biscovey pulled one back when Allen was judged to have
fouled a striker in a 50/50 challenge and Steve Wheatley scored from the
spot. Biscoveys' best period of the game followed as they pushed
Bude back and fans thought they had leveled the match when a well struck
shot hit the side netting of the goal. Bude however rode the storm and for
the final 10 minutes again looked comfortable on the ball to see out the
game with a victory.
