League Match
Bere Alston 2 Bude 2
Bude lost two valuable
points against lowly Bere Alston who could field their strongest side of
the season for this tie. It was Bude who opened the scoring after 15
minutes when Josh Allen converted a penalty after Steve Hackett had been
barged to the ground inside the box. Defender Allen and midfielder
Robbie Pearce were causing havoc down the right throughout the first half
and they both combined when Allen was clearly brought down in the box only
to see the referee award a free kick outside the box. The resulting free
kick was floated in and Dan Starkey headed against the crossbar. Bere
Alston then won a penalty when Dan Pethick was fouled in the box, but the
spot kick was put wide of the right hand post.
Bere Alston caused Bude a lot more problems from the start of the second
half and were soon on level terms, a through ball saw untracked midfielder
Will Westlake break Budes offside trap and one on one rounded keeper Gary
Dinshaw and tucked his shot away. Bude though re-took the lead after
70 minutes, Tommy Statton received the ball in the box, nutmegged his
defender and from the right smashed his shot in to the left corner.
Bere Alston were awarded a penalty with minutes remaining, Budes' Allen
controlled the ball and it deflected from his foot up on to his hand and
the ref gave his third penalty of the game. Zak Beesley this time
made no mistake as he scored and earnt his team a point.
