Launceston Cup
Kilkhampton Res
0 Bude 11
Bude were expected to win this encounter and started strong scoring
after 7 mins when a cross from the right saw Tommy Statton head back
across the 6-yard box and Simon Chadwick stretched to volley in. Two
Jason Ferrett corners saw Bude go three ahead with Kev Cornish heading
home and Dan Balsdon scoring shortly after. Statton made it 4 nil after
20 mins, and Gary Dinshaw scoring Bude’s fifth when Balsdon layed a ball
in to the path of
Dinshaw who cut inside from the right and his left foot strike nestled
inside the near post. Adam Cornish grabbed Budes sixth with a superb
strike from 35 yards out which struck the underside of the bar and in.
Just before the half time whistle a Dinshaw diving header was disallowed
for offside. Kilk started the second half well but again were soon on
the back foot after Bude’s Ferrett struck a sweet shot in to the far
corner. Jamie Hopcroft soon made it eight with his second of the
weekend from the edge of the box. Balsdon got his second with another
well-taken goal and nearly had his hat trick when he smashed a shot off
the crossbar. Manager Clive ‘Clicker’ Cornish who was forced to came on
at half time scored the tenth, a cross from the right saw Cornish leap
like a salmon he head home for possibly his first goal in 20 years.
Kilks spirited side never gave up and still enjoyed the match but could
only look on as Ferrett hit another volley in to the far top corner with
minutes remaining.
