Bude Town
4 Belmore Jags 0
Bude completed their 3 game pre
season program with a four nil win over touring side Belmore Jags from
Cheltenham. Jason Ferrett opened the scoring midway through the half when
a supposed cross flew straight in past the near post and past the visiting
keeper. Bude doubled their lead mid way through the second half with Gary
Dinshaw scoring an instinctive goal inside the box. The Jags’ mini tour
was starting to show as they tired in the final 20 mins and Bude took
control and opened them up on various occasions. Budes third was a
penalty, 15-year-old Billie Hopcroft was brought down, and he duly stepped
up to tuck the penalty away. Minutes from the end Hopcroft was put
through one on one, and lobbed the oncoming keeper to grab his second of
the game.
Budes 1st friendly was
against East Cornwall Premier side Launceston and an even match saw the
game finish two all with Bude scoring two late goals, a Wayne Cornish
header from a corner and Dan Balsdon.
Budes other pre season game was
against North Devons Bradworthy who also gave Bude a stern test. Although
not Budes best game so far they drew three all. They went in to a
three-one lead, Jamie Hopcroft scoring Budes first, a cracking own goal
saw Bude take a two-nil lead early in the second half, Bradworthy pulled a
goal back soon after but were then two goals behind again when Dan
Balsdons hard work paid off with him beating the keeper and smashing in to
an empty net. Bradworthy didn’t give up and scored two very late goals to
earn themselves a draw.
Unbeaten in pre
season, Bude now look forward to opening their league campaign against
Tavistock, which has now been rearranged and will be played at Budes
ground this Saturday. |
